They say that joint pain is only for the elderly. Contrary to this belief, joint pain can be experienced even by the very young. Joint pain can be a result of the swelling of bursae. This condition is called bursitis. The term “bursae” refers to the protective sac that covers our bones. Joint pain can also be a result of damaged joints. This condition is generally called arthritis. Joint damage can also be caused by excessive amount of uric acid in the body. Falling down the stairs or losing your footing can result in joint injury leading to joint pain. Tendinitis can also result in extensive joint pain. Tendinitis is the swelling of the tendons. Joint pain can hinder you from doing your usual activities. To get rid of this agony, follow some simple home remedies for joint pain.
Take a warm bath. You can soak in a tub of warm water for a few minutes or you can simply set your shower to a higher temperature. Warm water relieves the pain and relaxes the joints. A warm bath is an effective home remedy for joint pain.
A massage can also help. Just massage your painful joints using natural oil. When massaging, make sure that you apply just enough pressure. Pressing your joints too hard will only worsen joint swelling. Eucalyptus oil is recommended. Its cooling effect soothes the pain and lessens the inflammation of the joints. This home remedy for joint pain has been used for a very long time. If apple cider vinegar is available, you can use it to massage your joints instead of using oil.
To provide relief from joint pain, make the habit of drinking papaya seed tea. All you need to do is boil a cup of water and drop in papaya seeds. After 5 minutes, strain the papaya seeds and drink the tea. At least 6 cups of papaya seed tea for 2 to 3 weeks will surely take that joint pain away.
If your joint pain is caused by arthritis, it best to use turmeric powder. Just put half of a teaspoon of turmeric powder in a glass of warm water. Take this at least three times in a day. Bananas are good for the joints. They contain vitamins B6 and C and potassium. These elements can strengthen your joints. Carrots are another good food. Eat them raw, cook them, or drink carrot juice. You can add lemon juice to your carrot juice for quicker relief from joint pain.
You can also prepare a mixture of camphor, methyl salicylate, eucalyptus oil, and menthol. Rub the mixture on affected area. In no time, you will feel relief from the pains of your joints.
Another home remedy for joint pain is doing alternating hot and cold compresses. Applying hot followed by a cold compress to the affected area is a good treatment for joint pain.
As a last note, it is important to drink enough water in a day. The recommended amount is 7 to 8 glasses of water (approx. 2 liters). Water flushes away toxins that can damage the joints.
