Appropriate sleeping positions and a firm mattress suit persons with serious back problems, too. Avoid constantly sitting on couches, but rather sit in firm chairs and keep changing positions to keep your lower back from getting stiff. Concentrate on good posture as you sit.

It is not a common knowledge that garlic is also an effective alternative cure to back ache. Eat or combine two to three garlic gloves in your meal as much as possible, or apply garlic oil on the back to give you some relief from the pain. Massages using mint oil or turpentine oil have been found as an effective home remedy for lower back pain as well. But something as simple as rubbing a hot water bottle on the back can do wonders as well.  

Lemon extract is also another useful remedy that is easy to prepare. For instant relief on back pain, try incorporating lemon juice with a pinch of salt and take it at least twice a day.
